Today, we will be interviewing a rising star on the reggaeton scene, Ufuk “UFFEII” Ekici with ten questions. He has been creating stunning reggaeton hits lately with focus on English lyrics mixed with Spanish/Latin. and creates his own lane in the genre. We had a great time interviewing him!
It is a pleasure to meet you, what first got you into music?
I have always loved to listen to music, especially reggaeton because of the energy it gives. After hearing “Calma” by Pedro Capo and Farruko, I decided to try to sing a song with a friend from Granada, Spain and I had so much fun doing the song even if the results were not good, we created a song like Calma together.
What skills have you learned that will help you in your singing career?
I have learned more about myself, how to be more relaxed under pressure mostly and go further out of my comfort zone like never before. When you are more relaxed, you sound more professional.

Daddy Yankee, Yandel, Ozuna, Farruko, Pedro Capo
What influenced you to be a singer?
My ex-girlfriends haha!
What made you decide to pursue a career in entertainment?
I love the rush I get when performing for large audiences and everyone gets a good vibe and having fun, I enjoy seeing other people having fun!
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
It’s mostly reggaeton/pop with lyrics about women, love mixed with dancing and good vibes
In terms of the overall composition, what is your favorite song and why?
I love the song “Lo que pasó pasó” by Daddy Yankee because it has everything in it. You hear right from the beginning that the song is a banger as soon as you hear the piano in the beginning. It is very easy to sing along with that song even if you don’t know Spanish, that’s what makes it so nice. As well as the flow and energy in Daddy Yankee is on another level.
How do you find inspiration when recording?
When I sing, I think about past memories and experiences to go back and live in a moment when I had a certain feeling to create and get the feeling back in the studio so that you can hear the emotions in my voice. It takes some practice to do this but when you master this skill you will record really nice takes.
Have you ever taught anyone how to play an instrument?
I did teach my brother how to play the Ukulele, he started with the chords, C – G – A – F and it went pretty good. He was able to play the chords with a rhythm after one hour. When I saw him play and nail these chords, I was so happy, it felt so good that I managed to teach him something new. I like to learn and teach people, it gives me a nice feeling.
What do you do in your free time now?
Right now during the whole January, I have been hanging out with my best friend Roberto aka “Roberto Vs The World”. He came down to Malta from Gothenburg, Sweden for a visit but is now planning to move and stay in Malta. We have had such a great time together, we’ve been playing video games and had some really crazy night outs together and more is yet to come. I am also working out regularly at the gym and recording my new upcoming songs as well as learning Spanish every day. I look forward to this summer! I just want to perform my songs live!
