As per BCCI’s draft schedule for World Cup 2023, India will play their first match against Australia in Chennai on October 8 while Ahmedabad will witness the breathtaking match against old rivals Pakistan a week later.
The ESPNCricinfo reported on Monday that “The BCCI shared the draft schedule with the ICC, which then sent it to the participating countries for feedback before a final schedule is put out early next week”.
The tournament, as per the initial draft, will start on October 5 with the current champions England playing against last World Cup’s runner-up New Zealand in Ahmedabad. The final match would be hosted in Ahmedabad on November 19.
“Pakistan are slotted to meet the two teams progressing from the Qualifier on October 6 and 12 in Hyderabad, and then Australia in Bengaluru (October 20), Afghanistan (October 23) and South Africa (October 27) in Chennai, Bangladesh in Kolkata (October 31), New Zealand in Bengaluru (November 5, day match) and England in Kolkata (November 12),” the report added.
In the World Cup 2023, a total number of 10 teams will participate and out of which, 8 teams have already qualified while the other two teams will qualify for the main tournament through the qualifiers.
