Raven Keiara is keeping good company these days. The multihyphenate artist has earned the respect of her peers and heavyweights in the entertainment industry. The Austin, TX, native has made a name for herself in her local California community and in the ranks of Hollywood.
At seventeen years old, the “Show Up and Step Up” founder is demanding accountability from city leaders, making history with social activism and empowering Gen-Z to speak up.
The team activist who graduated this summer from the distinguished Mira Costa High School teamed up with the Black Scholars Union and challenged city leaders of Manhattan Beach to implement a Juneteenth celebration. Raven Keiara was driven to advocate for the event in an effort to foster diversity, inclusion and to promote cultural awareness. As a result of their tireless efforts, the City of Manhattan Beach hosted its inaugural Juneteenth Celebration in June 2024.
Notables such as Senator Ben Allen, L.A. County Board of Supervisors and Holly J. Mitchell, City of Manhattan Beach mayor Joe Franklin and Manhattan Beach City Council recognized Raven Keiara for her tireless efforts.
Raven Keiara has been recognized in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate for her impact and influence as a teen activist. She is redefining the cultural norm on a dynamic journey focused on purposeful living with a mission mindset making everyday count.
The talented teen, who has completed studies at New York University (NYU) and is an alumni of Bill Duke’s screenwriting and filmmaking initiative, was recently recognized locally for her social activism and accomplishments at the L.A. Focus magazine 26th Annual First Ladies High Tea in May 2024. Past honorees who have been honored at the prestigious event include VP Kamala Harris, Debbie Allen, Maria Shriver, Cathy Hughes and other newsmakers.
In June, the teen spearheaded a campaign to get community leaders engaged with youth for a career fair in mid-city Los Angeles. As an Ambassador for Amazing Grace Conservatory, Raven Keiara recently partnered with award-winning playwright Annie Lesser, ABC Interactive and supporting organizations such as the California Arts Council and the Long Beach Arts Council to bring the community together yet again for a project called “Positive Shifts,” expanding community and embracing art.
The event was designed to inspire, educate, and entertain while promoting community engagement and uplifting youth and championing social justice.
No stranger to productions. Raven Keiara helped to found the media entertainment magazine PopSource TV at just eight years old. By nine years old the young creator had built a portfolio of work covering the entertainment industry on red carpets where she interviewed a diverse roster that reads like a “who’s who” of entertainment titans.
As a masterful grassroots journalist who has been credited on IMDb as a reporter, Raven Keiara has covered a variety of stories and her work has been published nationally.
At fifteen years old, Raven Keiara landed a job as a producer at Tavis Smiley’s KBLA talk radio station in Los Angeles – in the number two media market in the country.
The scholar and media personality uses her voice to empower others. In addition to being a community activist, Raven Keiara is a writer, singer, dancer, actress, producer and humanitarian. The multifaceted community leader has completed over 500 documented hours of community service.
Raven Keiara is passionate about making a difference through her work, and her platform showing up and stepping up echoes this philosophy.
In a recent interview with Culture Buzz magazine, Raven Keiara said “I’m hoping to continue to be a positive vessel in the community. I will continue to engage, educate and empower youth. Future endeavors include an upcoming role in a film that I’ll be shooting in the coming weeks and another project that I’m not allowed to talk about right now. Moving forward I’m expanding my brand across the global media and entertainment market. What you are witnessing is growth across various segments and I will continue to evolve so watch for me in movies, on TV and social media. You have to be diverse in this industry, keep it going. You have to be able to act, sing and dance. You just can’t do one thing. It’s important to reinvent yourself.”
Fans can catch Raven Keiara in the now streaming film Our Christmas Love Story directed by NAACP-nominated producer Reggie Gaskins.
She recently wrapped production singing and dancing around Southern California with AGCompany (AGC), a musical theatre showcase. She has performed at the Beverly Hilton, at Celebration of Gospel at Disneyland for the past two years and many other events.
The starlet is currently co-starring in the newly released “Show Me” music video with Raven’s Home alumni Issac Ryan Brown. The video which was recently released from Brown’s latest EP “My Eye’s Only” has been met with critical acclaim, in the USA and abroad.
The talented teens previously performed together for Amazing Grace Conservatory (AGC) in their fall 2023 PINO musical theater production directed by renowned actress and CW/BET/Paramount+ alumni Wendy Raquel Robinson.
“We love our AGC family and are so excited to see Issac and Raven excelling in their artistic crafts and becoming revolutionary,” Robinson said.
“They both did a phenomenal job in PINO and now they are killing it in Show Me. I could not be more proud of their growth as artists,” the AGC founder stated.
Jacquelyn Honors-Elam, executive vice president of Amazing Grace Conservatory echoed Robinson’s remarks. “Issac is one of our alumni and we are so proud of him and his accomplishments. Raven is absolutely stunning and charming – you forget she’s 17,” Honors-Elam stated.
“The video is amazing and helped to plant even more seeds for sharing impact, talent and the ‘can do it-ness’ of our students,” Honors-Elam said.
As Raven Keiara continues to captivate audiences with her music, dancing, acting and activism, her new role with Issac Ryan Brown is an exciting new chapter as we’re seeing a more mature Raven Keiara rise up.
