Mathias le Fèvre, a model, a businessman and an icon of style, these are just a few words of how describe this young successful Londoner.
In fashion positions rarely overlap; model is a model, a designer a designer and belong in the area of business. Each person usually have a set area of responsibility. But today, we introduce you to classic gentleman man who has a roles spanning many fields, Mathias le Fèvre is the man we are talking about. With a unique face structure and a style that is as good as it can, he has become one of the hottest men in the field of men’s menswear circles right now.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO PITTI? WHAT DOES PITTI UOMO MEAN TO YOU PERSONALLY? HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE ITS SIGNIFICANCE?
Pitti Uomo is one of the most important events within the world of menswear. It is a trade show which mostly know for its core of classic garms and tailoring. It has also become the’ gathering place for well dressed and stylish gentlemen from all over the world.
I attend fair in Florence twice a year to explore my favourite brands’ latest collection, do appointments with my international clients and catch up with industry friends. Attendees are a mix of brand representatives, journalists, photographers, enthusiasts, etc. and it is beautiful seeing everyone come together to celebrate their love for style.
HOW WOULD YOU SAY PITTI HAS EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS? DID YOU NOTICE ANY MAJOR CHANGES THIS YEAR COMPARED TO PREVIOUS ITERATIONS?
When I first started attending Pitti Uomo, I quickly became familiar with a wave of attendees known as “the peacocks”. Guys who would go to the show wearing over the top outfits, with the sole purpose of standing outside waiting to having their picture taken and hoping to be end up in a magazine. A culture that has become sort of an insider joke. During the last show I feel this circus had much less of a presence. The end of Pitti Peacocks? Or perhaps just a cold winter? I can’t tell.
HOW, IN YOUR OPINION, DOES PITTI DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FASHION-LED EVENTS IN THE LIKES OF LONDON, PARIS AND NEW YORK?
Pitti Uomo stands out for its location, community and hospitality. Taking place in Florence, it could not be more magical.
WERE THERE ANY STANDOUT BRANDS OR CLOTHIERS THAT CAUGHT YOUR EYE THIS YEAR?
What impressed me the most, was complexly unexpected but fascinating. FISKARS (established in 1649), the Finish utilities brand, best known for their iconic orange-handled scissors, had teamed up with fashion and textile designer, Maria Kokeila. They hosted a presentation set in the most beautiful Florentine mansion where they launch their first-ever clothing and accessory collection designed for gardening and urban exploring.
WERE THERE ANY EMERGING TRENDS OR LOOKS THAT YOU WERE PARTICULARLY FOND OF?
While Pitti Uomo is known to attract dapper dandies, there is also street wear on show. The two style groups are usually seen as contrasting, but this season showed a particular step towards a fusion. A big trend was to “break up the structured tailoring with casual and urban elements” such as; bucket hats, sneakers, oversized sunglasses, hoodies or colourful beanies. A look that I am all for, but haven’t quite figured out myself.
ANY STYLES YOU WERE A LITTLE LESS FOND OF?
Cowboy hats…
