WHAT PSALM 91 MEANS TO ME
For one to feel the impact of the Word of God in his life, he must personalize it. You must lift it from the realm of logos (mere letter) to rhema (God’s personalize Word to you.) This same principle is what I applied to make Psalm 91 come alive in my spirit. As I read through, I personalized each verse; I made every verse God’s rhema to me. For example, verse 1 reads, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” To personalize or make this verse meaningful and impactful to me, I will regularly declare it thus, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I continually dwell in the secret place of the most High God; I abide under His shadow.” Glory to God! This way, I am hundred percent assured of my safety.
Verse 2 instructs to vocalize my safety and trust in the Lord. “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Can you see that? Thus, I confess or declare the Lord to be my refuge, fortress and in Him I trust. Verse 3 assures me that the Lord shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. In other words, I am rest assured that the Lord is with me to save me from any trouble I might find myself. So, constantly I declare in faith that I am delivered from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
Verses 5 and 6, command me not to be afraid of anything – the terror by night; the arrow that flies by day; the pestilence that walks in darkness nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. Nothing should make me afraid because the Lord assures that when a thousand shall fall at my side, and ten thousand at my right hand, nothing shall come near me. I will only see the reward of the wicked.
The reason I can be this confident and assured is because I have made the Lord God my refuge and habitation. Thus, no evil shall befall me nor any plague comes near my dwelling. He has given His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways. I am always conscious of the presence of angels with me. With that assurance I constantly declare that I am kept safe in all my ways. I am conscious that God gave the angels charge to bear me in their hands hence I do not dash my foot against any stone. Glory to God!
I am infused with the divine power to tread upon the lion and adder: I shall trample on the young lion and the dragon under feet and no harm shall come to me. I declare that I love the Lord with all my heart; therefore, He will always deliver me and set me on high. He hears and answers me whenever I call on His Name. He has satisfied me with divine health and long life. Glory to God!
This is my personal sharing on Psalm 91 and hope to encourage anyone reading this
