Addison Rae is back with a fresh pop hit, “Diet Pepsi,” marking her first solo release since last year. This song is also her debut on Columbia Records, adding a major milestone to her career.
“Diet Pepsi” offers a dreamy vibe reminiscent of Lana Del Rey’s early work. The song, a nostalgic ode to young love, features Rae singing about the innocence and excitement of a romantic drive: “When we drive in your car, I’m your baby (So sweet)/Losing all my innocence in the backseat.”
Alongside the song, Rae released a black-and-white video that is as playful as the track itself. In the video, Rae is seen riding in a car, having fun with a banana split, feeding cherries to her driver/lover with her toes, and wrapping herself in an American flag.
Rae first gained fame on TikTok with her dance videos starting in 2019. She ventured into music in 2021 with her debut single “Obsessed,” released through Sandlot Records. That same year, she made her film debut in Netflix’s “He’s All That,” a modern take on the 1999 film “She’s All That.” Last fall, she starred in Eli Roth’s horror film “Thanksgiving.”
Following “Obsessed,” Rae teased more music and snippets of her upcoming tracks went viral. She released her debut EP, AR, which featured upbeat bubblegum pop and collaborations with artists like Charli XCX. This year, Rae continued her collaboration with Charli XCX, joining her on the “The Von Dutch Remix” and performing at Charli’s show in Los Angeles.
With “Diet Pepsi,” Addison Rae continues to build her musical career, blending nostalgic pop sounds with her unique style.
