It was announced today that Air India will buy 220 Boeing planes for $34 billion. Tata-group-owned Air India has placed an order for 470 aircraft, which includes 250 planes from Airbus and 220 Boeing jets. This order is the largest by a single airline.
The announcement is made by US President Joe Biden, stressing that PM Modi is looking forward to extending India-US ties. On Tuesday, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran announced that Air India has signed a letter of intent to obtain 250 airplanes from Airbus.
“I thank my friend @EmmanuelMacron for joining me at the launch of an important partnership between @airindiain and @Airbus that will further strengthen the Indian aviation sector and create opportunities in both nations. This reflects the robust Indo-French Strategic Partnership,” Prime Minister tweeted.
US President Joe Biden said in a statement that “I am proud to announce today the purchase of over 200 American-made aircraft through a historic agreement between Air India and Boeing. This purchase will support over one million American jobs across 44 states, and many will not require a four-year college degree”.
The US President called it a “historic agreement” and added that the deal will help over 1 million American jobs all over the US. The deal will benefit building the nation’s economy.
