The government data shows that eight states are reporting most of India’s coronavirus disease (Covid-19) related daily death tolls. The total number of people have succumbed to the viral infection has reached 137,173, with 444 new deaths counted from across the country on Sunday. Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal, Haryana, Kerala, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are the states reporting almost 71% of the new Covid-19 deaths. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with chief ministers of various states over the ongoing Covid-19 situation in the country, through video conferencing today. The PM had conducted several meetings in the last six months with chief ministers over the pandemic. The Government of India has planned to appoint top Central teams to Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to strengthen these states in Covid-19 response and management. Amid the hike in Covid cases in Delhi, the Kejriwal government has increased the fine for not wearing a mask to Rs 2,000 from Rs 500 today. “People are wearing masks. But there is leniency as well. We need to tighten the screws. Famous comic actor of Hindi and Punjabi movies, Upasana Singh, is launching her son, Nanak in the Punjabi film industry.
