Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang will travel to India this week for the G20 Foreign Ministerial Meeting, which is being hosted by India. It is announced by the Chinese Ministry as the two countries continue ways to resolve the ongoing conflict along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the eastern Ladakh areas.
“The G20 should focus on prominent challenges in the global economy. China stands ready to work with all parties to ensure the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting sends a positive signal on multilateralism,” said Mao Ning, an official in the Chinese foreign ministry during a press briefing.
The Chinese Foreign Minister will travel to India on March 2. It is expected that India’s external affairs minister S Jaishankar will have a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart where they are likely to discuss the situation at the conflicted border and assess the outcomes of the diplomatic and military talks.
Interestingly, just after India’s strong message to the Chinese government warning them over the increased attack at the LAC the Chinese foreign minister’s visit is to take a place. “At the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang will attend the G20 Foreign Ministers conference in New Delhi, India on March 2,” the Chinese foreign ministry added in a brief statement.
