In a provoking Instagram rant Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro came to defend her brother, when Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk bantered about the Portuguese forward saying that he was “not really a rival” in the Ballon D’Or award voting.
Dutchman Van Dijk allegedly finished second behind Lionel Messi in Monday’s ceremony in Paris, followed by Ronaldo.
Ronaldo was allegedly absent from the Ballon D’Or award presentation, it is the same award that he has won five times; he however, preferred to go to Milan where Ronaldo was voted Serie A’s Player of the Year.
In a recent interview when a reporter asked Van Dijk about Ronaldo’s absence from the event, Dijk replied: “Why, was he a candidate?”, that provoked an Instagram rant that Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro failed to accept. She in turn replied, “Dear Virgil, from where you are now, Ronaldo has come and gone one thousand times.”
Further she said, “Cristiano was three-times league champion in that country where you have played for years and still haven’t put your hands on ‘the tin’.”
