Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey apologised to sacked Twitter employees, saying that he developed the micro-blogging site too quickly. Dorsey responded to the mass layoffs under Elon Musk’s ownership by saying he owns “the responsibility for everyone in this situation”.
Elon Musk laid off half of Twitter’s workforce on Friday. “Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment. I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that,” writes ex-Twitter owner Jack Dorsey.
In November last year, Dorsey quit Twitter and handed over the responsibility to Parag Agarwal, who was among those sacked. “I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. I don’t expect that to be mutual in this moment…or ever…and I understand,” Dorsey added.
After roughly laying off half its staff, the company is now reaching out to dozens of employees who lost their jobs and asking them to return, Bloomberg News reported. According to two people familiar with the plans, some of the sacked employees are asked to return as they were laid off by mistake. Earlier, Platformer reported regarding Twitter’s plan to hire back employees.
