Javier Velez, better known by his stage name Versal is a well-known composer and instrumentalist based in Texas. The eight-track project “Versal Volume 2″ includes a variety of sounds, ranging from peaceful romantic to abrasive brass parts similar to those heard on Kind of Pink and The Guardians of Montserrat. It is a lovely rendition, a hybrid of orchestral and electronic, with some pieces having modern electronic percussion. Influenced by orchestral (Brahms, Sibelius, Dvorak), modern (Ravel, Stravinsky, Bartok), new age/ethnic (Vengelis, Enya, Enigma), and pop music, this talented artist plays piano, organ, classical guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, flute, and more. Versal made this album in his home studio, using his grand piano.
Versal’s music has been branded New Age, Electronic, and Contemporary Instrumental. He is often compared to talents like Yanni, Dave Arkenstone, and David Lance. His ability to pick up things fast helped him reach where he is today. Even before he could speak, Versal could hum in flawless key and tempo. At the age of 13, he started composing and had his first studio experience at 14. Then at 20, he became the conductor and arranger of a handbell choir in Puerto Rico. Between 2006 and 2013, he also worked in the film and documentary side. Undoubtedly, the man is a natural talent who is poised to make a mark in the world of music.
