People can get a lot out of camping. They’ll be in the fresh air, they’ll be able to appreciate nature and destress, and they’ll often be more active. They might even be able to forget about their devices and social media for a while and enjoy being in the moment. Yet although this can be true for everyone, it’s only a minority of people who go camping. This could be because the majority think that camping would be uncomfortable, and although they can see the benefits, they don’t want to be miserable while they’re away.
The good news is there are ways to make camping more comfortable, and if you can put some of them into action, you can enjoy all the benefits that camping brings. Read on to find out more.
Choose the Right Campsite
When you want to go camping, the first thing you’ll need to do is choose a campsite. Although there is such a thing as ‘wild camping’ (where you pitch a tent wherever you want), there are problems with this, and it’s not always legal or safe. This is why it’s far better to opt for a proper campsite, especially if you’re looking for comfort.
When you are looking at where you might stay, check the facilities listed. Is there a store on site for food and essentials? Is the campsite close to activities like cycling, hiking, and fishing? Is there an electricity hook up? The more amenities you can get on your campsite, the more comfortable you will be. You don’t have to use them all, but knowing they are there should you want them is great for peace of mind.
Choose the Right Sleeping Options
Camping means sleeping in a tent for a lot of people, and there are certainly some benefits to doing this. However, a standard tent is not going to be that comfortable, especially if you’re sleeping directly on the ground. It would be better to sleep in a larger, family-sized tent (even if there is only one or two of you) to give you more space. Plus, invest in camp beds, as this will be much more comfortable compared with sleeping on a mat on the floor.
For the ultimate comfort, you can go camping in an RV, as you’ll have all the comforts of home there with you, including a bathroom and kitchen.
If you don’t want to buy or hire an RV because you’re worried about driving it, for example, and you don’t want to sleep in a tent, but you still want to go camping, you might think you’re out of options, but there is a solution. Buy a roofbunk that attaches to the top of your vehicle, and you’ve got a great place to sleep that’s comfortable and safe.
Bring the Right Cooking Equipment
The food you eat when you are camping doesn’t have to be basic. If you bring the right equipment with you, you can cook up some wonderful feasts that are delicious and healthy, and that will make you feel a lot more comfortable.
Instead of just having a pot to cook things in and cutlery and a plate or bowl to eat with, bring a cutting board, kitchenknives, a sturdy table, and a cooler (you can even get special coolers with lots of additional equipment inside them, like cup holders and cutting boards), and anything else you’ll need to cook with.
In this way, your evening meal will become something to really take some time over and enjoy, making it a great way to end a day of fun and activity.
