Students at Maharaja Suhel Dev State University in Uttar Pradesh found themselves perplexed during their recent exams when they discovered that question papers were unavailable. This incident, which occurred during the Sanskrit exam for the fourth semester of MA and later during the history paper exam, left students and administrators scrambling for solutions.
During the MA Ancient History exam, scheduled to begin at 8 am, students were shocked to find that the question papers were missing. After 45 minutes of confusion, the centre administrators, with their quick thinking and action, managed to obtain the question paper via WhatsApp from the university administration. The administrators swiftly printed the paper and distributed it to the candidates, averting a potential crisis.
This wasn’t the first time such a blunder had occurred at Maharaja Suhel Dev State University. Earlier, during the Sanskrit exam for the MA fourth semester, exam centres were provided with plain paper envelopes instead of receiving question papers. As a result, the exam had to be cancelled, prompting the Vice Chancellor to request a report from the Registrar regarding the incident.
The university’s oversight in printing exam papers has not only disrupted the examination process but also significantly undermined the credibility and efficiency of the university’s administrative procedures. This recurring issue has raised serious concerns among students and faculty members, and the Vice Chancellor has called for a meeting of the examination committee to address it and ensure that such lapses do not happen again in the future.
Maharaja Suhel Dev State University, located in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, boasts a wide network of affiliated colleges totalling 438. These colleges offer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs across various faculties, including Agriculture, Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, and Science. However, incidents like the recent question paper blunder highlight the urgent need for improved coordination and oversight to maintain the integrity of the examination process and uphold the university’s reputation.
