In a candid interview with Indian Express, Mrunal Thakur, a seasoned actress with over half a decade of experience in the industry, shed light on the challenges of navigating Bollywood, body shaming, and her personal definition of ‘sexy.’ Despite receiving critical acclaim for her performance in ‘Love Sonia,’ Mrunal expressed frustration over the disparity in opportunities between Bollywood and South Indian cinema.
The actress revealed her struggles with Bollywood producers, expressing disappointment in the lack of substantial roles compared to her experiences in South films like ‘Sita Ramam’ and ‘Hi Nanna.’ Unafraid to take on diverse roles, Mrunal emphasized her willingness to explore television roles to challenge herself as an actress.
However, beyond her professional challenges, Mrunal addressed the issue of body shaming, recounting a casting director’s insensitive remarks about her appearance. Refusing to conform to conventional standards of beauty, Mrunal asserted her confidence in her body, stating, “I have thick thighs and I own them.”

Moreover, Mrunal emphasized her desire to be a versatile performer, willing to mold herself to fit various character roles. However, she underscored the importance of engaging with challenging characters that push her boundaries as an actor.
Looking ahead, Mrunal’s upcoming projects include Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, A.R. Murugadoss’s Tamil action venture alongside Sivakarthikeyan, and Navjot Gulati’s thriller ‘Pooja Meri Jaan.’ Additionally, she is slated to appear in Vijay Deverakonda’s VD13, showcasing her versatility across different cinematic landscapes.
