This list compromises of directors you’ve heard of and others that you may have not, however with a new year means more music and more visuals. This is our list of the visual creatives that you should tune into this year!
1.) Cole Bennett
Cole Bennett is an American businessman, videographer, and music video producer. He is famed for his Lyrical Lemonade digital venture, which he actually created as a high school student as an internet blog in 2013. He quickly started directing music videos for local Chicago rappers, including Vic Mensa and Taylor Bennett, which he posted, along with live show recaps, ciphers, documentaries, and interviews, to the Lyrical Lemonade channel.
2.) Gibson Hazard
Just at period, an eBay-based poster sale firm from his home in Boston was run by a 16-year-old Hazard, with a new product making of semi-custom layouts of existing cover art. Hazard created a distinctive avant-garde filmmaking brand paired with commercial-length visuals that have become The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Future, and Lil Uzi Vert’s sought-after operation. Hazard uses his skills on Drake’s Aubrey and the Three Migos tour to recap the L.A events.
3.) Dexter Navy
Dexter Navy is a photographer and film producer. He aims to raise psychedelic, cinematic work and retains a genuine feeling in all forms. As i-D Magazine came across his pictures on Tumblr and asked him to start shooting for them, Dexter’s career began at the age of 18. Dexter is now designing his first photography book and is working on a feature for emerging talent with a strong artistic theme.
4.) Karena Evans
Karena Evans is a Canadian director and actress. She won praise for producing the music videos for Drake’s 2018 Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping songs, “God’s Plan” “Nice for What” and “In My Feelings” Evans worked in the Mary Kills People television series and acted in the 2018 independent film Firecrackers, and won the 2018 Much Music Video Award for Best Director and is now the first woman to win the Prism Trophy.
5.) Lacey Duke
Lacey Duke is from Toronto, Canada, and is the director. Famous for her dreamlike style and her counter-culture stance. “Duke has produced videos for Janelle Monáe, S.Z.A., Bryson Tiller, and H.E.R, mainly a music video editor, to name a few, and television debut film on OWN’s winner Queen Sugar series or marketing credits CoverGirl, Pantene, Samsung leading Issa Rae and “A Wonderful Day in Hollywood” nominated by Netflix’s Emmy featuring Ava DuVernay, Lena Waithe, and Spike Lee. Duke is based in Atlanta, GA. She was up for Best R&B Video in 2019 by NAACP for Catchiest Song or V.M.A. nomination.
6.) Lonewolf
Since you’ve been watching music videos for the past year or so, you’ve seen a picture directed by Lonewolf. His theme was parodied by his imagination and cannot be replicated while he is editing. He brings life to songs, and he will be somebody I look forward to making a great year, shooting for Maxo Kream, Lil Skies, Yung Bans, Warholss, and much more.
7.) Jmoney1041
He was born Jonathan Nweke in Dallas, Texas. He is a YouTube star. As seen in the “Slow Flow” video of Splurge and “Numbers” of Quin N.F.N., his impeccable eye for editing pulls you to the extent where you need to replay the video again because it is absolutely brilliant together with his talents in animation. He’s certainly someone who is trying to take videography to the next level, and we hope he will. one of his most outstanding achievements or liked videos or most popular videos there, “Catch Me Outside How Bout Dat (Dance Video).”
8.) Indigo Suave
Indigo Suave is a visual arts director and current film student at Princeton University. In 2018, he founded his own production company called ASUAVEPRODUCTION. His recognition for his creativity came to light by sharing his visual projects on Instagram. His film style has often times been regarded as visual poetry. He describes it as, “a visual display where words and visuals express the same story and reflect each other effortlessly. That is what making music videos and movies are about, how well can you translate the written words to moving pictures.”
9.) Theo Skudra
Theo Skudra is the director, photographer, and visual artist for Drake. Growing up in Toronto he winded up on set for one of Drake’s music videos and since then his talent and work have greatly evolved. His work mostly revolves around using film. It’s almost like every shot becomes instantly classic and nostalgic, and his IG feed reflects this feeling and emotion. With an entire feed of the only black and white Skudra’s work is impeccable and unique.
